START WITH PRAISE!
Prayer begins with a desire to honor God, but not everyone feels confident when they praise the Lord. We often find it easier to ask for our own needs to be met, pray for the safety of our kids, or even confess our sins, than to genuinely praise the Lord. Real praise is rare, but it doesn’t have to be. No wonder Jesus begins His teaching on prayer by guiding us immediately to praise. He wants us to place praise at the beginning of our time with God. “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” (Matthew 6:9)
